"B" is for Bear...

Greta the Circus Bear from Etsy seller marysgranddaughter

You may remember a couple of weeks back that I wrote about  Etsy and wanted to make "Etsy Love" a semi regular feature. I've had a think and decided to switch it up a bit by creating a "Mini Etsy market" themed around a particular Etsy purchase that I have made.

Sooo. Here goes....

This one is on my shopping list - from jimbobart

Ikea Strikes Again!

Image via Design Crush

Trust Ikea to come up with a cookbook that looks soooo beautiful! Styled by Evelina Bratell and photographed by Carl Kleiner, instead of just listing the ingredients as you would see traditionally in normal cookbooks, the ingredients for each recipe are all beautifully laid out for your viewing pleasure -

See what I mean? I don't even like cooking and I want a copy! Unfortunately it seems for now that it is only available in Sweden (sigh!) but I am keeping my fingers crossed that it makes its way here to Australia!

Happy Wednesday to you all,
Stephie x

PS - the title translates to "Handmade is Best". I for one agree wholeheartedly with that!

Zakka

Hello and a happy Monday to you!

Today I would like to introduce to you a new shop called Zakka. Such loveliness! Here are a few images to show you what I mean -

Beautiful, don't you think? But, wait, there's more....

There's a giveaway  to celebrate the opening of the shop. I would LOVE to win these goodies and if you would too, you can post this image on your blog with a link back to the shop and leave a comment letting them know. Very generous of me to share this information with you isn't it?!

                                          heads up via Deborah. Thankyou!

Etsy Love

Take a look at my new "Monstrito" pillow -

Image from here

Isn't it fantastic? It comes from this great Etsy shop  giulia sagramola.

I found the perfect place for it in my son's room -

Cute!

Looking right at home!

Now anyone who knows me well knows that I have a serious addiction to shopping on Etsy. I love that it provides global access to all sorts of fantastic things especially wonderful art and design items from amazingly talented people. Many an hour is whiled away "surfing", often when I should really be doing other things!

So....

I am thinking that I will introduce an "Etsy Love" feature to my blog. I will try to keep it regular which shouldn't be too hard given the amount of Etsy purchases I have made! Who knows? Maybe it will help you with your own Christmas shopping!

Happy Wednesday,

Let me tell you a story...

Hello and happy Monday! I hope your weekend was fun and relaxing.

You may remember a couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I had a story that I would save for another post. Well today is the day to tell it!

This time a year ago, I set up for the first time at the Kirribilli Art and Design Markets. I was sooo nervous and wanted to make everything look just right. As I was setting up, a man jogged past, stopped and started giving some giraffes that I had made a pretty thorough going over.

Hmmm I thought, what does he want?! At which point, he asked me whether or not I made kangaroos. As I had never given any thought to making a kangaroo, I replied that I didn't but I could probably design one - why do you ask?

"Well I run the Park Hyatt and I would love to have some kangaroos designed and made exclusively for the hotel." was the response.

"Oh" I answered, trying to look unphased, "I think I can do that" (Sure I can?!)

To cut a long story short, I was given a couple of weeks to design and bring prototypes to a meeting. I was so thrilled that they liked what I had designed and placed their first order. A couple of weeks ago, I completed another order.

Here's what they look like -

They're kind of unnerving when they are clustered "en masse". I usually leave them on the kitchen bench to freak my hubby out when he comes home!

All I can add is that one year on and 200 kangaroos later, you really never can tell who you will meet when you are out on the street! Oh, and if you'd like one, you just need to book a room at the Park Hyatt - cheap at half the price don't you think?!!

Look what I found...

at my front door today -

Nice box!

What's inside?

Mmmmm...

Oh my goodness! How good does this look?

Yummy!!!!

A thankyou gift from my lovely cousin (and her hubby!) for dinner in Melbourne last Friday night. Thankyou so much Naomi! What a wonderful surprise to come home to.

I am itching to make short work of this, I just have to wait for my hubby to come home because it's for both of us. I wonder if he'd notice if bits were missing?!

I hope your Thursday held a surprise or two for you,

I'm Back!

Hello and happy Tuesday!

At the Tim Burton Exhibition

We had a wonderful time in Melbourne, enjoying the beautiful, sunny weather (unlike Sydney!), taking in the Titanic and Tim Burton exhibitions and doing a lot of eating, drinking and shopping!

Here are some photos that cover the "eating and drinking" part!

Yummy macaroons and pink lemonade at the fantastic Monsieur truffe

A nice pot of tea after a hard day's shopping!

And now for the "shopping"! We had a great time in Fitzroy. I think it's where I did nearly all my shopping! I bought some beautiful frames -

A gorgeous French colouring in book and a new purse -

And a vintage brooch -

Great name for a shop don't you think!

The shopping "highlight" for me however was provided by my husband who spotted these killer boots-

and bought them for me. I am a very lucky girl!

I hope that your weekend was as much fun as mine,
Stephie x
