Party Post One!
Hello and happy Wednesday!
So today begins the lowdown on last weekend's party. The theme for the night was "Growing up in the Nineties" and so the guests had to dress up as their favourite movie, TV or cartoon character from this era.
I decided to go with five characters and style two tables for each one. They were Sponge Bob Square Pants, The Simpsons, Toy Story,Yoshi (from Nintendo) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I thought I would post about some of the tables here and leave the rest until next time.
First up, Sponge Bob!
I made the "vases" by taping together postcards I had collected a few years ago (who says those free postcards don't come in handy?!) and placing bottles inside to house the flowers. I cut up a lei and spread the hibiscus around them and done! Pretty simple but really effective.
The second Sponge Bob table was made up of a purchased cutout and some hibiscus shot glasses and looked pretty cute too -
The Yoshi tables were made up of Yoshi images that I printed and attached to skewers. They were then put into bottles with some flowers. I was able to get hold of some Nintendo lolly tins and these were placed on the red boxes to give them some height. Everyone who loves Yoshi knows that he can't go past an apple so these provided the finishing touch -
I used a similar concept for the Ninja turtles as I was able to track down some party masks. I also found some garbage cans and plastic rats and added them to the mix -
I put some pizza flavoured bisciuts into the garbage cans for snacking!

It's been a while...
since my last post. I can only apologise as last week was very hectic with a party to prepare for on the weekend also thrown into the mix! I will be posting later in the week about the party and sharing some pictures with you all then. It was so much fun!

Score!!!
I have long been an admirer of those black and white bus roll prints which have graced many an interior magazine page in recent months. I have not, however, been such a fan of the accompanying price tags - just a little bit beyond my budget I'm afraid!
How exciting was it then when I was recently out and about doing some sourcing at one of my favourite haunts to see bus roll prints for sale. Ok, ok so they are not the genuine article but for $35.00 they are just fine by me. See?
I love it! I hung it in the computer room at home and I can see it when I am working in the kitchen. A lot of the places listed are of significance to me and when I look at it, it makes me smile. For such a small investment, what more could you ask?!

Father's Day!
Hello and happy Monday!
Today I thought I'd share with you a "behind the scenes" look at my Father's Day gift to my dad. My recent trip to Berry proved to be very fruitful as not only did I buy mum's birthday present (see my previous post) but I also picked up this beautiful old box while I was down there.
It is handmade and a little battered which is just how I like my old pieces to be! I printed up the tag and the "outside" look was complete.
Now anyone who knows my dad knows that he loves his minties and shortbread biscuits. He also has a particular fondness for strawberry and rhubarb tarts from a certain bakery in Balmain. Luckily, I was able to get to said bakery on Saturday afternoon (thankyou for keeping me company lovely husband!) and pick up a couple of these for him. I wrapped these individually, along with some shortbread and minties, made some bunting and this is what the box looked like on the inside
Pretty sweet - literally!
And if that wasn't enough of a sugar fix for one night, I also made this cake to take to dinner
I don't think that there is such a thing as too much sugar is there?!

Wattle Day!
Hello and happy 1st of September to you!
Today is Wattle Day in Australia and even more exciting this year is that it is 100 years since the first Wattle Day was celebrated in 1910 with wattle being declared Australia's National Floral Emblem.
