I have been giving a lot of thought...

this week to remembering and to what exactly it is that constitutes a memory.

For me, it's all the little things like-

helping with the washing -

the smell of cooking in the kitchen -

and time spent in the garden -

Vintage Wood Tool Tote, Bottle Holder and Galvanised Tool Caddy and Garden Claw

or at the sewing machine -

Antique sewing machine drawer, "City" photographic print and 1960s Sewing Box

It's the sound of the radio or of old 78's -

or the clicking of knitting needles -

But most of all it was knowing that the door was always open and a cup of tea -

"My Cup of Tea" photographic print by Zenz Photography, "Afternoon Tea" print by Blackbird Experience and "A Cup of Tea in the Mornings" by Honey and Jam Photos

was on hand.

This weekend, our extended family will be remembering someone special. I hope your weekend will hold special memories too.

  1. Hi Stephie,

It's funny how the little things trigger a memory from long ago. It sounds like you had a lot of good memories with your loved one.

I hope you have a good weekend, too.

    Big Hug,

  2. Such great images - and I really need to get me some of those cupcake trays!

Hugs and a happy weekend :)

  3. Another lovely post! I find a lot of my memories are triggered by smells, partiuclarly of my Gran with whom I lived when I was little. Hope you enjoy your weekend.

  4. It is isn't e?! And a lot of times I find that it happens when you are not expecting it. I do have many many fond memories of my nan and even though it is almost five years ago I still really miss her. Thankyou for your kind words, they mean a lot.

Thanks Signe - the trays are great aren't they? It's a pity the shipping is so hefty (as always!) otherwise they would already be on their way to me!

Thankyou Deb! Smells do seem to trigger memories don't they? I lived with my nan for a while too when I was little. The smell of freesias especially makes me think of her.

Hugs to you all and talk soon, Stephie x

  5. I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I love these beautiful images you have put together. They show all the wonderful comforts of home :)

  6. so many things remind me of different family members. particularly the smell of gardenias, they remind me of my favourite aunt!

  7. I hope you had a nice weekend, full of happy remembrances.
And, your selection of images is exquisite, beautiful...

  8. That vintage radio couldn't be any more perfect! Hope you had a happy weekend making more memories to cherish.

  9. Thankyou so much everyone! I had a lovely weekend doing lots of remembering and making new memories too! Ali - for me it's freesias!

Hope you are all having a great week, Stephie x
