When the rain is pouring down...

as it well and truly has been in Sydney this week, it's time to...

             get out the umbrella!

Of course umbrellas can be used for keeping us dry but they can also protect us from the sun -

Umbrellas can give weddings an interesting twist -

When you think about it, with so many "brolly" options available to us, there really is no need  to keep your umbrella only for when it's wet!

And remember -

“Life is too short not to have a little umbrella in your drink”

A happy wet winter Wednesday to you,

  1. Hello Stephie:
As we sit here in 30C, sun streaming through the windows, it takes an enormous leap of our imaginations to think of your wet and windy winter.

However, a parasol to shade us and a cocktail with its floating paper umbrella seems just perfect. Cheers!

  2. Hello Jane and Lance and a happy week to you! I think I would rather be sitting in your shoes right now. It's pretty miserable here! I hope you have found yourselves a perfect spot and please have a cocktail for me! Cheers to you too - Stephie x

  4. Nice, we can have a litle rain in Holland. It is very dry and there are some problems with the dykes. The umbrella collection looks great.

  6. How apt! We were roasting in 33°C+ last week and walking to school was quite an ordeal for my kids. We decided to look for vintage parasols at the flea market.
Today it has rained non-stop - we're right back down to 13°C and it feels like winter.

Brollies always remind me of my gran, she called them 'gamps". Do you know that word?

  7. Well, we have plenty of rain in Portland too. Hopefully it makes it to Holland. A little trade - rain for a bit of sun?

  8. Hi Helmi and Madelief! I wish that I could send some rain your way. It seems funny to think of Holland being dry! Don't worry, even though it has been pouring, the weather people tell us that we are still in for a very dry winter. We'll see!

Me too Victoria! Don't you think they would be great at a party? I so want to use them - I will have to wait for the right occasion though!

Hi Deb! So good to hear from you. Your weather sounds like ours. The cold, rainy weather has disappeared and we are now having beautiful spring like days instead. I think given that the weather is now the way that it is, umbrellas, vintage or otherwise, seem like a good investment!

Hi e! Maybe the rain has travelled to Holland?! Nothing but mild sunny days here now at the moment! How about in youe neck of the woods?

    Hugs, Stephie x
